We are pleased to announce that the recipient of the FIDE Outstanding Contribution Award 2025 has been decided as the Imari Chess Club, one of the Japan Chess Federation’s registered clubs.
About the Award
This award is presented to individuals or organizations that have made significant social contributions through chess, in line with FIDE’s 2025 theme of the “Year of Social Chess.”
Each national federation is requested by FIDE to select a recipient.
Reason for Selection
Imari Chess Club has steadily expanded the local chess community by engaging in activities deeply rooted in the region—such as collaborating with local specialties like Arita porcelain and working with local media outlets including cable TV and newspapers.
Award Ceremony
The award ceremony will be held on Sunday, July 20, in the morning before the start of Round 5 of the Japan Chess Classic 2025, which will take place on the same day to mark International Chess Day.
The recipient will receive a commemorative medal and a certificate of appreciation from FIDE.
