Postponement of 2020 Japan Chess Championship

To our qualified players for Japan Chess Championship this year,

Based on the uncertainties around COVID-19 and in conjunction with the decision from FIDE to postpone the 44th Chess Olympiad, NCS has made the heart-breaking decision to postpone this year’s Japan Chess Championship to a later date in the fall. This decision did not come lightly as you can imagine. The nature of the game of chess makes it really difficult to keep players, their families and friends safe from potential infection. Your support and encouragement is needed more than ever.

We are hoping to have the new dates set by the end of April. The new dates as well as the details will be posted on the website as soon as they are available.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We all look forward to the day tournaments are held worry-free in the near future. Thank you.
