Guinness Record Established on FIDE 100th Anniversary

July 20, 2024 was the 100th anniversary of the founding of FIDE.
On this day, chess games were played and an event was held around the world to challenge the Guinness record for the total number of games played in one day.
As a result, the total number of games played was 7,284,970.
As for OTB, which represents about 1% of the total, 75,132 games were played.

In Japan, 146 games were played at the Tokyo venue and 20 games were played at the Nagoya venue, helping to set the record.
With the help of millions of Chess Friends around the world, Guinness World Records was achieved and participants were able to share the moment.
Participants received a certificate from Guinness.
