The 2nd “Japan Chess Hall of Fame” Award Winner

We are pleased to announce the second awardee of the Japan Chess Hall of Fame as follows.

Awardee

Mr. Jacques Marie Pineau

Reason for Award

For his achievements as a player, including two-time Japan Champion (1986, 1993) and two-time Olympiad team member (1988, 1992), as well as for his founding of the Asaka Chess Club and his many years of dedication to the promotion of chess. In particular, for teaching chess to Mr. Yoshiharu Habu and Mr. Toshiyuki Moriuchi, for his three books, “Dynamic Chess Guidebook,” “Crazy Chess,” and “Chess Fireworks,” for conducting numerous international events through chess and shogi exchanges, and for arranging GMs’ visits to Japan.

Commendation

The award ceremony will be held at the Japan Chess Championship scheduled to be held in May 2025, and a commemorative gift will be presented.
