We are pleased to announce that Mr. Pineau Jacques Marie has joined the Japan Chess Federation.
Mr. Pineau is a two-time Japan Chess Champion (1986 and 1993), a two-time Chess Olympiad team member (1988 and 1992). He was also a long-time leader of the Asaka Chess Club, where he made great efforts to promote the game of chess, and in the course of his efforts, he nurtured strong chess players such as FM Habu Yoshiharu and FM Moriuchi Toshiyuki.
On the other hand, he had been treated unfairly by the former Japan Chess Association (JCA), which expelled him in 1999. The Japan Chess Federation expresses its deep regret for the unfair treatment he has received and will make every effort to restore his honor.
In consideration of the disadvantages he has suffered over the years, the annual membership fee will be permanently waived, and the registration fee for the Kawagoe Chess Club, of which Mr. Pineau is the leader, will also be waived.
