Welcome to Japan Chess Federation

１． New Members

Thank you for considering membership with the Japan Chess Federation.

To complete your membership registration, the following two steps are required.

Payment of Annual Membership Fee	Please pay the annual membership fee corresponding to your age category (via PayPal).
Membership Registration	Please register through the Japan Chess Federation Membership Portal.
To participate in tournaments organized by the Japan Chess Federation, a separate event ticket must be purchased (via Peatix).

 

２．Membership System

The Japan Chess Federation has established a membership system to ensure that chess can be enjoyed safely, continuously, and sustainably, while promoting its development.

Members are entitled to access the programs and services outlined below.

Participation in Official Rated Tournaments	Participation in tournaments organized by the Japan Chess Federation
	Participation in tournaments and official rated tournaments organized by Registered Clubs
	Acquisition of the official national rating through officially rated tournaments in Japan
Participation in FIDE Rated Tournaments	Eligibility to represent Japan in international tournaments
	Participation in FIDE rated Tournaments organized by the Japan Chess Federation
	Participation in FIDE  rated tournaments organized by Registered Clubs
	Participation in FIDE rated Tournaments held overseas
	Acquisition of an international (FIDE) rating through international rated tournaments (A Japanese FIDE ID* may be issued to individuals who are either Japanese nationals or residents of Japan.) *FIDE ID is an ID number issued by the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
Members-Only Information	Subscription to the Chess Info letter (monthly)
	Subscription to CHESS Magazine (bimonthly)
Establishment of a Registered Club	Establishment of a Registered Club and organization of tournaments and official rated tournaments
Other	Participation in members-only seminars organized by the Japan Chess Federation
	Participation in National Arbiter seminars and eligibility to obtain arbiter certification

 

3.Annual membership fee

Adults	5,000 yen
Under 23 years old	3,000 yen
Under 19 years old	2,000 yen

 

・As the annual membership fee is a subscription, we recommend that payment be made by the member themselves. ・Annual membership fees can be paid only via PayPal. Payment of annual membership fees through the membership portal “Zebral” is not available.  ・We accept payment by a family member as a proxy payment only in cases where the member is a minor or otherwise unable to make the payment in person. ・Membership is valid for one year from the date payment is completed. ・Age is the age at the time payment is completed.

 

 

4．Application for new membership

Click on the button to register as a new member.

 After completing the registration, please check your “Welcome Mail” and confirm your registration information on “My Page”.

5．Renewal Application (for current registered members)

For renewal, the annual membership fee is paid automatically via PayPal. Please ensure your PayPal payment method is valid.

 

 

6． Reapplication for membership (if you have previously registered as an annual or One-time member)

STEP 1：Payment of annual membership fee

Please pay the annual membership fee for the applicable age category.

STEP 2 ：Request for Reinstatement

Please email the Japan Chess Federation with your request for reinstatement, including your name, date of birth, and Federation ID (if known).

Please pay attention to the following points when paying by PayPal. ・Please make your payment in an environment with a stable Internet connection. ・Please click the payment button only once on the payment screen. ・The annual fee is a subscription, which includes reserved payments for the following years. ・If you wish to cancel your subscription, you can do so from your PayPal page. ・If payment is not completed within one month, the membership application will be deleted. ・Please register on the  membership portal within one month of your PayPal payment.
