Japan Chess Federation’s 5th Anniversary Commemorative Initiatives

Thank you for your continued support of the activities of the Japan Chess Federation.

Thanks to your support, the Japan Chess Federation is able to celebrate its 5th anniversary on February 1, 2024.

In commemoration of this 5th anniversary milestone, we are pleased to announce the following initiatives:

1. Establishment of the “Vision 2030”

“Vision 2030” aims to guide the direction of our activities towards a future where chess is widely embraced and its popularity and development are sustained in Japan.
It sets forth broad objectives such as “expansion of the number of players,” “enhancement of competitive strength,” and “Development of infrastructure.”

2. Establishment of the “Japan Chess Hall of Fame”

The “Japan Chess Hall of Fame” honors and recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Japanese chess community over an extended period, preserving their achievements for future generations.

3. Introduction of the “Annual Awards”

The “Annual Awards” will recognize players who have achieved outstanding results throughout the year, as well as individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to the Japanese chess community.
The inaugural awards will cover achievements from January to December 2024.

In addition to these initiatives, as previously announced, Chess Center UENO will open in Ueno, Tokyo on February 1.
