Born in 1950. After becoming the champion of Japan Chess Championship while a student at Keio University in 1972, he holds the record for the greatest number of Japan Chess Championships, winning a total of 12 times. Despite his busy schedule as the president of Gonda Metal Industries, he excelled as Japan’s top player for 50 years. Passed away in 2022 at the age of 72. Awarded the inaugural Japan Chess Hall of Fame in 2024.
