Regulations

Date/Venue/Format

Date: Saturday, February 8, 2025

Venue: Learning Tree International School Elementary School Campus

   Kamei Building 2F, 2-17-13 Kiba, Koto-ku, Tokyo (Map)

Format:

Not a knock out format; all participants play every round of the tournament.

No rating will be given.

Two groups will be formed, and games will be played between players of similar skill level.

 

Registration

Entry criteria: Beginners and novice players of elementary school age and under

Participation fee: 2,000 yen (non-members of the Japan Chess Federation may also participate)

Registration: Purchase electronic tickets through [Peatix] during the registration period. (Limit: 30 players)

* Show the QR code on your electronic ticket when checking-in.

A “waiting list” ticket will be sold at the same price along with the “participation ticket” on Peatix.

“Waiting list tickets” can be purchased only when the capacity has been reached and regular tickets are sold out. If a cancellation occurs, the participants will be allowed to participate in the tournament in the order in which they purchased their “waiting list tickets,” and the purchase price will be applied directly to the entry fee. If the waiting list is not filled by one week prior to the tournament, the purchase price will be refunded.

 

If a waiting list ticket purchaser becomes eligible to participate in the tournament, he/she will be notified via his/her registered email address.

13:00 – 13:15 Check-in 

13:15 Opening Ceremony

13:30 – 16:10 4 games (15 minutes each, no additional time per move)

16:20 – 17:00 Prize Giving

 

Prizes

Participation prizes for all participants and certificates for outstanding performance.

 

Other

・The rules of the tournament will be the same as in regular tournaments, but since this is a tournament for beginners and novices, the penalty for infractions will be lightened, and players will not lose even after the second time.

・If the organizer determines that the player is sick, the organizer may order the player to get out.

・Photographs taken at the event may be used on the official website, in magazines, or in other media. In addition, photos taken at the event may be provided to the mass media in case of media coverage.

If cancellation is made 8-days before the registration deadline and the number of participants has not reached the limit, a refund will be made. We do not refund from 7-days before the registration deadline. We do not refund once the number of applicants has reached the limit.

・If you will be absent or late on the day of the tournament, please send an e-mail to japanchess.info@gmail.com .

・The Japan Chess Federation is not responsible for any problems that may occur between individuals.

・If there is a discrepancy between English and Japanese, the Japanese version prevails.
