 Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line Iriya station 8 minutes by walking

 Tokyo Metro Ginza Line Inaricho station 9 minutes by walking

 JR/Tokyo Metro Ueno station 11 minutes by walking

Format: All participants will play 3 games, not a winner-take-all competition. Time limit is 15 minutes, with 10 seconds added for each move. This is an informal tournament with no rating.

Pairings: Pairings will be made on the day of the tournament so that at least one game can be played by White or Black. Also, as far as possible, the pairings will be made between the winners or losers of the second and subsequent rounds.

 

Registration

Entry criteria:  Beginners (Recommended for players with Chess.com rating under 1200 a/o Lichess rating under 1400) 

Entry Fee: 2,000 yen for members, 3,000 yen for non-members

For members, please make sure that your membership is effective until the date of the tournament.

Registration: Purchase tickets through [Peatix] during the application period (Limit: 8 spots)

“Waiting list tickets” could be purchased only after the usual participation ticket got sold out.

Those who purchased the “Waiting list ticket” can register for the tournament when there was a cancellation in order. The order of registration will be based on how early the player put their name on the waiting list, and the ticket fee will be accounted for as the participation fee. If there were not enough cancellations to make a spot for players in the waiting list until one week before the tournament, the ticket fee will be returned. An e-mail will be sent to the registered address if participation becomes possible.

Please read through the “https://japanchess.org/en/top/tournament-faq/” in advance to get an idea of how the event will go.

Be sure to bring a pen when you attend the tournament.

Clocks and chess sets will be provided by the organizer.

You do not need to write a game record, but if you can write, you should do so. If necessary, the advisor will teach you how to write.

All electronic devices including smartphones, tablets or smartwatches must be turned off and stored away. Players are not allowed to keep it on him/her or take it outside of the venue in a bag. When a player breaks these rules, his/her game shall be immediately lost. Just the mere sounding or wearing of an electronic device is a loss.

If you have a fever or feel unwell, please notify the staff and leave the venue immediately. The organizer may ask you to leave the venue if it is obvious that you are not feeling well.

Wearing a mask in the venue is at the discretion of the individual. Even in the absence of obvious health problems, you may be asked to wear a new non-woven mask if you have hay fever or other symptoms such as coughing or sneezing.

The rules of the game will be the same as in a regular tournament. However, illegal moves will not be considered as a foul in this trial event.

After your game is over, please be quiet in the game room and be considerate of the players around you.

Normally, there is a waiting room separate from the game room where games can be reviewed. However, this time, due to the convenience of the venue, there is no waiting room.

If necessary, parents are requested to stay inside the venue.

Photographs taken at the event may be used on the official website, in magazines, etc.

The time of the event may be changed or the event may be cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances.

If you cancel up to 8 days before the application deadline and the number of participants has not reached the maximum number, you will receive a refund.

No refunds will be made for any reason after 7 days prior to the registration deadline or when the maximum number of participants has been reached.

The Japan Chess Federation cannot be held responsible for any problems that occur between individuals.

If there is a discrepancy between English and Japanese, the Japanese version prevails.
