Introduction of the New “Rated Tournament Support Program”

The Japan Chess Federation has newly established the Rated Tournament Support Program with the aim of further promoting the organization of rated tournaments by registered clubs, providing more playing opportunities for players nationwide, supporting the sustainable development of club activities, and raising the standards of tournament management.

This program combines financial support, which reduces the economic burden of organizing tournaments, with human resource support, which helps strengthen the organizational structure, in order to create an environment where clubs can host tournaments with greater confidence.

Financial Support

  • Tournament Subsidy Program
Registered clubs that organize tournaments meeting specified requirements will receive subsidies based on the number of rounds. Both standard and rapid tournaments are eligible.

  • Loss Compensation Program for Large-Scale Tournaments
For tournaments meeting specified requirements, if a financial loss occurs, the Federation will cover the portion of the loss exceeding a certain threshold. This system enables clubs to take on the challenge of organizing larger tournaments with peace of mind.

  • Swiss-Manager License Support Program
Clubs that newly purchase a paid license for the pairing software Swiss-Manager will receive financial assistance. This supports smoother tournament operations.

Human Resource Support

  • Tournament Staff Dispatch Program
For clubs with little or no prior experience in organizing tournaments, the Federation will dispatch tournament staff, with costs borne by the Federation. Through actual events, clubs can learn and acquire tournament management know-how.

  • National Arbiter Dispatch Program
For clubs without members holding the title of National Arbiter (NA) or higher, the Federation will dispatch a qualified NA to ensure fair and smooth tournament operation. The Federation will cover the dispatch costs.

Through these programs, we expect that registered clubs will find it easier to host tournaments in their respective regions, thereby providing more playing opportunities for players across Japan. We look forward to your active use of the program.
