Chess Center UENO Grand Open!

A long awaited spot will open on Thursday, February 1st, 2024 for chess fans.

“Chess Center UENO” will be open for two days a week to host casual matches.

Join us for the ceremonial events on the opening day.

8 minute walk from Iriya Station (Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line) 

9 minute walk from Inaricho Station (Tokyo Metro Ginza Line)

11 minute walk from Ueno Station (JR/Tokyo Metro Lines)

 

Schedule:

17:00- Reception Start

You can play freely before the event starts, so please show up at any time you like before the event.

 

19:00- Play against CM Tran Thanh Tu

*The start time is subject to change.

Participants can challenge CM Tu in a simul.

There will be two rounds of simul, each round with CM Tu facing 8 participants at the same time.

 

21:00- Wrap-up and Q&A

CM Tu will go over the games played in the simul, and answer questions from participants.

 

21:30 – 22:00 End of event

 

Entry Criteria: Japan Chess Federation members (Yearly)

*There will be drinks served for free, and food could be brought in.

*Please make sure that your membership is in effect until the date of the tournament.

Entry Fee: 2,000 yen

* One additional guardian may enter for minor participants.

Registration: Purchase tickets through [Peatix] during the application period (Limit: 16 spots)

Registration Period: From 18:00 on Thursday, January 18th, 2024 to 19:00 on Thursday, February 1st, 2024

 

Regulations:

  • All participants have to follow the COVID-19 Guidelines 4th Edition.
  • The organizer will take photos and record videos. These may be published and used in media such as websites, SNS, video sites, and journals managed by the Japan Chess Federation. Participants shall agree to the publication of these photos and videos.
  • Due to the spread of coronavirus infection or other unforeseeable reasons, there may be unavoidable changes to the duration of the event, or the event may be cancelled.
  • If you wish to cancel the participation of the event, please contact the organizer. (email: info.chesscenterueno@gmail.com)
  • We do not refund from 3-days before the application deadline. We do not refund once the number of applicants has reached the maximum.
  • The Japan Chess Federation cannot be held responsible for any problems that occur between individuals.
  • If there is a discrepancy between English and Japanese, the Japanese version prevails.
