About the FISU World University Championship Mind Sports:

The FISU World University Championships are international university championships organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), in which world university titles are awarded across various sports.

Unlike the FISU World University Games (formerly the Universiade), which is a multi-sport event similar to the Olympic Games, the FISU World University Championships are organized as standalone world championships for individual sports.

Chess was first included in the FISU programme in 1990 and has since developed in close cooperation with the International Chess Federation (FIDE).

Today, Chess (Classical and Blitz) and Contract Bridge are held under the “Mind Sports” category, bringing together top university players from around the world and providing an opportunity for Japanese representatives to compete on the international stage and gain valuable experience.
