The Shimokita Meijin Sen is held every year in late April, and this year marks the 14th time.

Mini talk show with gorgeous guests & simultaneous game against 6 opponents
Guests will be Mr. Pineau Jacques Marie, FM Aoshima Mirai and FM Otsuka Shou. Mini talk show and simultaneous game will be held by lottery.
The mini talk show is open to everyone.
Registration for simultaneous games: Please gather at the chess booth during the registration time of the session you wish to participate in and receive a numbered number. If there are too many applicants, a drawing will be held.

A photo spot will be set up with a giant-sized chess board and chess pieces, where visitors can freely take photos.

Guest Introduction
FIDE Master Otsuka Shou
He represented Tokyo in the National High School Ryuoh Tournament and won the All Japan Student Shogi Tournament as a general of the University of Tokyo. He started playing chess while still in college and improved his skills at a tremendous pace, achieving such achievements as the third place in the 2022 Japan Open. After graduating from university, he traveled all over Europe, the home of chess, as a chess player, and won the master title of Candidate Master (CM) in May 2024, Fide Master (FM) in July of the same year, and now he is aiming for a higher title, International Master (IM). He is currently aiming for a higher title, International Master (IM). He has the fourth highest rating among active players in Japan.
FIDE Master Aoshima Mirai
A Shogi 7-dan, he joined the professional ranks in 2015, and in the following year, 2016, he was ranked No. 1 in the annual winning percentage. Last year, he achieved an 8-2 record in the ranks of B-kyu 2-kumi in the ranks, and was promoted to B-kyu 1-gumi and promoted to 7-dan. In chess, he is one of Japan’s top players, winning the Japan Chess Championships in 2019 and 2022 He represented Japan at the 2024 Chess Olympiad. He is a Fide Master (FM) and has the second highest rating among active players in Japan. He continuously participates in international competitions and won the LEAP International Open Chess Championship in Hong Kong in 2018. He holds the title of Fide Master (FM) and has the second highest rating among active players in Japan.
Mr. Pineau Jacques Marie
Mr. Pinault came to Japan from France in 1985, where he was a two-time The Japan Chess champion (1986, 1993), two-time Olympiad representative (1988, 1992), etc. As a player, he founded the Asaka Chess Club and devoted many years to promoting the game of chess. He has been a chess player for many years. Especially worthy of mention are his chess instruction to Habu Yoshiharu and Moriuchi Toshiyuki, his three books, “Introduction to Dynamic Chess,” “Crazy Chess,” and “Chess Fireworks,” and his achievements in conducting numerous international events through chess and shogi exchanges and arranging visits to Japan by GMs. In February of this year, he was inducted into the “Japan Chess Hall of Fame” in recognition of his many years of achievements as both a player and a promoter of chess.
